My outfit  from yesterday–I felt amazing (which should really be the goal of getting dressed–wear something that will brighten your day).

New blazer from Zara in Barcelona (the other part of my haul, in addition to those snake print pants).  It’s going to be a new staple–I’m overwhelmed by the number of outfit ideas I have with it (BF jeans, navy tops, over a floral dress…).  It fits like a dream and the color is so unique and fun!

Picked up some faded jean shorts recently, I had been looking for a good pair because I feel like I’ve started to wear my darker ones constantly.  I was so opposed to jean shorts for the longest time, instead opting for chino-style shorts from J. Crew (really recommend them, come in a variety of lengths and great colors and prints every season), because I could never find comfy pairs.  My aversion towards denim shorts started shifting when I found some really unique colors and prints in comfy styles, and now I also like the classic denim-looking ones.  If you’re in the market, I also love the pairs in my collection from Gap, Marc by Marc Jacobs, 7 for all Mankind, Forever 21, and AG Adriano Goldschmied.

With a look like this, based on a bold piece paired with relaxed ones, a couple complementary (but not too attention-grabbing) pieces of jewelry make it.  I got this butterfly pendant at a craft fair in Spain and I love it.  I picked up these earrings on my trip too, at Accessorize, which is like European Claire’s but cooler.  I love bold, colorful gems, and the teardrop shape of these make them so versatile.  And they work with this look because they’re neon yellow and mint!  I also added my pair of little gold Akira rings I’ve been throwing on with a lot this summer.

The only print in this look is my fave faux-snake bag from Stella McCartney, and my go-to nude flats keep it sleek and streamlined.  With the boldness on top, I don’t want my feet stealing the spotlight!

What I wore yesterday:

  • Zara blazer
  • H&M Conscious Collection tank
  • Old Navy shorts
  • Boutique 9 flats
  • Stella McCartney bag
  • necklace from a craft fair in Spain
  • Accessorize earrings
  • Akira rings

Of course, the life and vibe of an outfit is enhanced by what you do in it.  I had an amazing time yesterday seeing How to Train Your Dragon 2 (love those movies–too sweet) and chilling out at home with one of my BFFs.  To give you an idea, it involved Facebook stalking pictures from prom at our alma mater, eating Chinese food, watching movie trailers and old episodes of Spongebob.  Oh, and singing Shontelle really loud.

What I wore for my first full day in South Beach (day above, night below)!  It was very windy.

I find vacation dressing really fun and different from dressing at home.  I find it’s easier to look effortless since you have an extra-limited wardrobe from which to choose, and so you’re forced to make some more unexpected pairings (for example, in the outfit below I normally would have reached for a black belt, but it’s so much more interesting  because I only had a brown one).  You also have to mix and match more than usual because you can only bring so much with you.

South Beach is known for crazy style and fascinating people watching.  I’ve seen some awesome and some not-so-awesome street style.  One of the best things I saw was a pair of paper-white wedge sneakers with a high-heeled pump printed on the side.  Fantastic.

I also spotted some no-fail outfits while biking around South Beach (lesson learned, never, I repeat, never, bike in denim short shorts.  Your thighs will thank you).  If you’re ever stumped on what to wear in warmish weather, a loose white button down with ripped denim shorts and little to no jewelry (no necklace—let the collar be the only thing framing your face)  is always effortlessly sexy, and in any situation it’s hard to go wrong with a bright colored top and a fun printed bottom.

Above, I’m rocking a cute casual look, featuring some awesome gifts I got for the holidays–Kate Spade stud earrings and this amazing Love Moschino crossbody.  I was thrilled to discover that the denim line of one of my all-time favorite houses makes faux leather bags.  This one is especially great because it comes with the scarf already tied on it.  It looks so chic, and I find whenever I try to tie a scarf on a bag myself it looks bulky and weighed down.  Thanks, Moschino (and my mom who found me this bag)!

Speaking of which, while I’m on winter break my mom has taken over photography duties.

What I’m wearing above:

  • Charlotte Russe tank
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs denim shorts and sunglasses
  • Betsey Johnson belt
  • Taylor Swift for Keds sneakers
  • Love Moschino bag
  • Kate Spade earrings
  • Guess bracelet

What I’m wearing below:

  • Topshop top from Nordstrom
  • Rag & Bone boyfriend jeans
  • Prabal Gurung for Target heels
  • Francesca’s Collections belt
  • Forever 21 necklace
  • Macy’s earrings
  • Darcel X Kate Spade ring

Some things just go together.  Tomatoes and mozzarella.  Ali and Noah from The Notebook.  Katherine Hepburn and wide-leg trousers.  Kittens and Youtube.  Killer heels and ripped boyfriend jeans.

As soon as I put this outfit on and looked in the mirror I knew it was one of my all-time favorites.  I love the perfect combo of these lace-up heels and shredded boyfriend jeans (both of which are favorite pieces of mine on their own).  This shirt was also a Christmas gift from my parents, and it is so ridiculously soft and comfortable, not to mention stylish and adorable.  I love a fave statement necklace poking out from under the collar.  And as I said above, the brown belt (along with the half-tuck, a favorite styling trick) makes this outfit, which I put a lot of thought into, look effortless.

Obsessed.

I’ve had this outfit idea brewing in my mind for some time.

This top is an all-time favorite.  Many of the days I’ve just genuinely felt beautiful I was wearing this top.  It’s Vera Wang’s junior’s line for Kohl’s, Princess Vera Wang.  The clothes are really unique and the line has an eclectic mix of all kinds of styles–edgy, girly, and the kind of boho-vibe of this top.  I definitely recommend it.  The accessories are great too.

The ring I’m wearing today is really cool.  I got it at a craft fair with my aunt.  It’s basically a square plate of gold metal with the word “Sagittarius” and dots in the form of the constellation imprinted on it.  I love horoscope stuff–BCBG makes a lot of it.  I feel like I am very Sagittarius–bold and loud and fun, just like my style.  Horoscope pieces are a nice way to add a personal touch to a look.

Bracelet was a birthday gift from a couple of friends.

And I’m obsessed with these boots.  I needed a pair of tall brown ones and I loved the simple structure and the chain detail on these.  Go Charlotte Russe!

Last day for these tights.  I ripped them on a table in the dining center tonight.

What I’m Wearing Today:

  • Princess Vera Wang top from Kohl’s
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs shorts
  • Kate Spade tights
  • Charlotte Russe boots
  • Melie Bianco bag from M2 boutique in Chicago
  • Earrings from Macy’s
  • Ring from Renegade Craft Fair
  • Bracelet was a gift from friends

Also important announcement!  My wonderful photographer has a new website that you can check out here.

Have a great week all!  Happy Thanksgiving!
