Punk Princess

vest 3

Possibly one of my favorite looks ever.

Combining a couple great boutique finds from winter break:  This vest, with faux leather detailing and sheer panels that hang down at the sides and back, from Rebel boutique in Miami and the perfect white tee, which I needed, from this great new boutique in Vail called Coco & Cashmere.  My mom got some great stuff there, too, and they had an amazing selection of brands:  greats like Melie Bianco, Urban Expressions, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Kendra Scott and BB Dakota.

This is a very edgy, streetstyle-inspired look and I love it.  These ankle boots are all-time faves and I only wear them on days when I’m not running around too much, because of the heel.  They’re covered in glitter, have a perfect round toe and stacked heel, and of course the fact that they’re Betsey Johnson and have leopard print lining never hurts.

These jean shorts are great, just distressed enough and look great with sleek black tights.

I want to spend some time talking about the scarf.  It’s one of the more “fashion” pieces in my closet.  It’s Givenchy with that cool doberman print that Tisci has been doing.  The dobermans are edgy with a quirk, and anything that displays my love of animals, especially if it’s recognizable high-fashion, is a must-do for me.  I love the way the scarf hangs, too, and it’s so soft.  I’m not usually one for square scarves, but this one is so big that once you fold it you can basically drape it like a rectangular scarf, and the corners help it hang nicely.

As always, the Falabella is a cool finishing touch.

What I’m Wearing:

  • S Line vest from Rebel
  • Dakota Collective tee from Coco & Cashmere
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs shorts
  • Givenchy scarf
  • Betsey Johnson booties
  • Ann Taylor Tights
  • Michael Kors bangle
  • Express earrings
  • Stella McCartney bag
  • As always, Aunt Florence’s watch

Go feel awesome today.

Another Look From Miami

I’m so behind on my posts of break outfits!  Out to dinner look from Miami.  Went with some family friends and had a great time.  I got this romper ages ago (same day as the clutch, actually) and have been dying to be somewhere warm enough to wear it, so I’ve been planning this outfit for a while.  I wanted to pair it with my go-to blue pumps (a royal blue pair is so versatile) and my fave earrings.

What I’m Wearing:

  • Type Z pumps from Zappos
  • Clutch from Lori’s
  • Francesca’s Collections earrings
  • H&M ring

Miami Day 2

Here’s what I wore on my second day in Miami, to have an awesome spa day with my mom and shop at the legendary boutique The Webster!

If you’re ever in South Beach (or Chicago, or NY, or any of their many locations) I strongly recommend visiting Bliss spa!  The facials are amazing (ask for Audrey in South Beach), as are the manicures, and the technicians are so fun and friendly!  Bliss also makes awesome products like lotions and masks that they sell at Sephora.  On this day I got a fantastic facial, a polish change on my toes, and a MINX manicure, which is a manicure with these awesome printed nail stickers.  Obviously I chose a metallic leopard print. I’m obsessed!

Shopping at The Webster is like visiting a museum.  I haven’t bought anything either time I’ve been there, but I am awed to be in the presence of the fashion I drool over in print and online.  From 2.55s to PS1s, from McQueen to Dior, from Tom Binns to Delfina Delettrez, The Webster’s got it all.

Loved my look on this day.  I’m a bit of a jumpsuit obsessee.  I have lots of rompers but only 2 full jumpsuits: One dressy and one casual, this one from the Calypso St. Barth for Target collection a few years ago.  I was really resistant to the camo trend, but this jacket is a fave.  Necklace and earrings were awesome Xmas prezzies from my mom and completed the look perfectly, and let’s talk about how obsessed I am with the jelly Valentino rockstud flip-flops I found last season.

I picked up these beautiful babies with a Nieman Marcus gift card I was given for my 18th bday.  I was thrilled to find a piece with Valentino’s (my favorite house) signature rockstuds with no leather at all whatsoever!  A vegan-friendly pair of Valentino shoes are a dream come true, and these nude and gold ones go with EVERYTHING.  This season they’ve released colors like royal blue that are calling my name like sirens.

What I wore:

  • Calypso St. Barth for Target jumpsuit
  • Valentino flip-flops
  • Maurice’s jacket
  • Kendra Scott earrings
  • Express necklace
  • Love Moschino bag
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses

Happy 2014 all!!!

Find the Magic, Go and Grab it

What I wore for my first full day in South Beach (day above, night below)!  It was very windy.

I find vacation dressing really fun and different from dressing at home.  I find it’s easier to look effortless since you have an extra-limited wardrobe from which to choose, and so you’re forced to make some more unexpected pairings (for example, in the outfit below I normally would have reached for a black belt, but it’s so much more interesting  because I only had a brown one).  You also have to mix and match more than usual because you can only bring so much with you.

South Beach is known for crazy style and fascinating people watching.  I’ve seen some awesome and some not-so-awesome street style.  One of the best things I saw was a pair of paper-white wedge sneakers with a high-heeled pump printed on the side.  Fantastic.

I also spotted some no-fail outfits while biking around South Beach (lesson learned, never, I repeat, never, bike in denim short shorts.  Your thighs will thank you).  If you’re ever stumped on what to wear in warmish weather, a loose white button down with ripped denim shorts and little to no jewelry (no necklace—let the collar be the only thing framing your face)  is always effortlessly sexy, and in any situation it’s hard to go wrong with a bright colored top and a fun printed bottom.

Above, I’m rocking a cute casual look, featuring some awesome gifts I got for the holidays–Kate Spade stud earrings and this amazing Love Moschino crossbody.  I was thrilled to discover that the denim line of one of my all-time favorite houses makes faux leather bags.  This one is especially great because it comes with the scarf already tied on it.  It looks so chic, and I find whenever I try to tie a scarf on a bag myself it looks bulky and weighed down.  Thanks, Moschino (and my mom who found me this bag)!

Speaking of which, while I’m on winter break my mom has taken over photography duties.

What I’m wearing above:

  • Charlotte Russe tank
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs denim shorts and sunglasses
  • Betsey Johnson belt
  • Taylor Swift for Keds sneakers
  • Love Moschino bag
  • Kate Spade earrings
  • Guess bracelet

What I’m wearing below:

  • Topshop top from Nordstrom
  • Rag & Bone boyfriend jeans
  • Prabal Gurung for Target heels
  • Francesca’s Collections belt
  • Forever 21 necklace
  • Macy’s earrings
  • Darcel X Kate Spade ring

Some things just go together.  Tomatoes and mozzarella.  Ali and Noah from The Notebook.  Katherine Hepburn and wide-leg trousers.  Kittens and Youtube.  Killer heels and ripped boyfriend jeans.

As soon as I put this outfit on and looked in the mirror I knew it was one of my all-time favorites.  I love the perfect combo of these lace-up heels and shredded boyfriend jeans (both of which are favorite pieces of mine on their own).  This shirt was also a Christmas gift from my parents, and it is so ridiculously soft and comfortable, not to mention stylish and adorable.  I love a fave statement necklace poking out from under the collar.  And as I said above, the brown belt (along with the half-tuck, a favorite styling trick) makes this outfit, which I put a lot of thought into, look effortless.
